As head of Victor Dermatology and Rejuvenation, Dr. Steven Victor guides a respected practice with a location at 460 Park Avenue in Manhattan. Over the past three decades, Dr. Steven Victor and his team of dermatologists have pioneered an “aesthetic dermatology” approach that incorporates the latest advances in the science of improving personal appearances.

One of Steven Victor, MD’s groundbreaking treatments is the Apogee Alexandrite laser, which is designed to enable quick and easy hair removal and the treatment of freckles, age spots, and skin lesions. The laser emits high energy light that destroys targeted cells through the application of directed heat.

The Apogee laser employs an alexandrite crystal, which creates light from the infrared spectrum and is thus known as a red light laser. These lasers can be configured in Q-switched mode, which involves the use of short-pulse high intensity beams. This approach is known for providing a high level of precision, with only the spot or lesion destroyed and all the surrounding healthy tissue left intact.

Risk factors for rosacea include having fair skin and having family members with rosacea. The United States is home to about 14 million patients with the disorder.

For example, topical treatments, including antibiotics, are effective in managing symptoms. Moreover, dermatologists can remove thickened skin associated with rosacea using state-of-the-art medical lasers.
